Cartoon in poor taste
Editor:
This is to register a strong protest against the devaluation of my homeland, India, in the cartoon published in the January 28, 1998 edition of The Daily O'Collegian.
This cartoon shows India as a terrorist country, with people killing foreign students. This is total degradation and depicts India in the opposite manner of its peaceful nature. Indians have been known, for centuries, throughout the world, to be tolerant and peace-loving. It is also worth noting that we are the world's biggest democratic country and great believers in human values.
Publishing such matters is, I believe, absolutely misleading and worth avoiding.
A small question for the cartoonist: has he, in person, ever visited India?
